It is indeed quite mind-boggling to think that I am only but one of the 7 billion people that embody humanity. I mean, consider this with me for a moment. You and I are but only two of the 7 billion others with a story to share. Two of 7 billion others with dreams of a future and aspirations of who we wish to become. We are to each our own, shaping, paving and living the stories of our lives, and the legacy we want to be remembered for.

I am only but one of 7 billion, what difference can I make? Who would remember me when I finally go? How much of it would even matter? These are but the few questions I ask myself from time to time. As if 7 billion people is not already enough to make me feel obsolete, I am reminded that even before them lived hundreds of billions of other people. Who remembered them when they went?

So here I am, faced with the impossible task of making myself known in a sea of voices and an ocean of legacies. I am faced with the impossible task of trying to convince myself why any of it even matters in the first place. After all, who might bother to find out who I am, or the life I live? Who would be so curious?

Nevertheless, no matter how impossible and ludicrous these ideas might seem, I have never been surer of my intentions. It doesn’t matter if no one ever reads these words, nor does it matter if no one will ever remember me. No matter how hopeless my attempts will be, I will always hang on to these words that embody human stubbornness; and the Words that will bear me far.

‘What is your most prominent love language? (Love Language Test)

The results of this test were a surprise to even me. ‘Words of affirmation’ is my most prominent love language followed closely by ‘Acts of service’. I guess, words do speak louder than words sometimes :).

‘What is your personality type?’ (Myers-Briggs Personality Test)

My personality type is that of an INFP. I trend towards being more Introverted than Extroverted; more Intuitive than Sensing; more Thinking than Feeling; and more Prospecting than Judging. This is but the four components that the Myers-Briggs Personality Test encompasses, but do take caution in taking the component headers at face value. I’ll suggest you read up more on the test here to get a better grasp of the theory of personality tests.

‘What do you aspire to work as when you grow up?’

I have once ever considered being an architect when I was younger, though such ambitions no longer prevail in light of the tediousness and meticulous demands of the field of work. More recently, I have considered lines of work closer to psychologists, writers and even journalists. However, the line that interests me the most as of now is in the human resourcemanagement sector.

‘What are some of your hobbies?’ 

This is a relatively standard question to ask; one that I have learnt to refined my answers over the years. I enjoy reading in my free time the most; It helps me to recollect my mind from the hectic course of a day into the organised divides of pages. It’s all quite exhilarating and calming at the same time. If you don’t read much, I’ll highly recommend you try sometime! Start with genres that interest you the most, before progressing to genres you’d previously didn’t think you would like to read. The satisfaction of finish a book is often one of much sorrow, though the satisfaction of finishing the book would often leave you in a mood between rueful and one of reverie. 

Another hobby that I have is playing chess. Though I may not be too good at the game, I often find myself on the board more than I ought to. It is a game that rings with many clever riddles, and for the right reasons. It is a game of thinkers.

‘What are some of your favourite reads?’

Hands down, one of the best books I’ve ever read has to be ‘The 5th Wave’ series by Rick Yancey.  I highly highly recommend you read his books should you be looking a book to kill time. However, here are some other books that I would recommend for reading.

For Dystopian Fanatics:

1. Matched (by Ally Condie) trilogy
2. The Giver(by Lewis Lowry)
3. The Defiant (by ) trilogy
4. Divergent (by Veronica Roth) trilogy [It’s not as bad as they made it out to be in the movies! Veronica Roth’s writing style and development of the characters and the plot were carefully written; can’t believe what they did to the movies! Does not do the books justice at all!]
5. The Hunger Games (by Suzanne Collins) trilogy [The movies were not half as bad as the books, however,  existing reviews of how bad they are might still turn you off from reading the book. My take is that it is still a very well written dystopian novel and warrants the enjoyment reader to enjoy just as much as any other book!]

For Hopeless Romantics:

1. Twilight (by Stephanie Meyer) saga [This is a book often criticised for Stephanie Meyer’s inability to fully empathise and associate with the subtleties of teenage infatuation and sexual tension. However, I must also state that many of those notions are preconceived and judged at a glance from the movies. The books themselves are not as bad as what people make them out to be. My one charge, however, is just the lengths of which the saga seems to last for.]

4. Pride and Prejudice (by Jane Austen)
5. The Rosie Project (by Simsion Graeme)
